Although formally educated in engineering (Howard Univ., B.S.M.E.) and business (University of Chicago, M.B.A.) photography has been my passion for many years. For me, there's a feeling of complete absorption when I focus on a special subject at the right instant in the best light. Some of my most creative images are composed in the magic light of morning.
Images that draw my attention usually evoke an upbeat and contemplative mood: architecture, street scenes, or nature, punctuated by life's special occurrences such as weddings, family re-unions and other events.
In recent years, “cause centered photography” has been an increasing interest of mine and I plan to intensify my focus around significant issues, like immigration and community concerns that I believe should be creatively shared.
My work can be found in a permanent collection of the University of Illinois' School of Public Health. It has been exhibited at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art, The Beverly Art Center, The Southside Community Art Center, and The University of Illinois as part of a traveling exhibit, "The Journey", which was done by the Chicago Alliance of African American Photographers (CAAAP) and sponsored by Kodak, Chicago Tribune, Leica, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. My work is also among the original “Journey” prints that are permanently archived in the Chicago Historical Museum.
